notes: Dvorak's ten miniature tone poems, like his Slavonic Dances, began life as four-hand piano pieces before he got around to decking them in full orchestral garb.  Both versions were finished in 1881, but the orchestral version wasn't performed until 1907----three years after the composer's untimely death.  Incredibly, the orchestral version of all ten Legends was not recorded until the early 1970s.
