This week, Classical 91.7's program director, St.John Flynn, and opera expert, Eric Skelly, discuss Chris Theofanidis’s latest opera, Heart of a Soldier, based on the remarkable life of Rick Rescorla, a British-born adventurer who fought in Vietnam before settling in New York as head of security for a brokerage firm based in the World Trade Center.  On September 11, 2001, he led 2,700 of his employees to safety when the WTC towers were hit and then headed back into the building to look for others.  He never re-emerged.  You can hear San Francisco Opera's world première production of Heart of a Soldier, conducted by HGO’s Patrick Summers, Saturday at noon on Classical 91.7 and online at classical917.org.
