We meet the Celtaire String Band, a period-instruments and historical-costumes band, based in Hockley and Shiner, Texas. The group’s four members treat us to a sampling of their unique blend of old-timey music styles: traditional jigs and reels from Scotland and Ireland, gospel hymns, patriotic anthems, folk songs and other Americana.
Mel Peters, vocals, fiddle, penny-whistle & guitar; Betty Peters, back-up vocals, “bass-box;” Mark Shafer, lead vocals and mandolin; and Mary Shafer, lead vocals and guitar, perform and talk with Bob Stevenson.
